H.S. Coaches Application 2023-24

Grade 9-12 students seeking to coach in the WYBA:

Please read this overview. 

The WYBA has had much success using high school students as coaches for the younger grade divisions.  The younger leagues have a 1-hour practice during the week and a 1-hour game on the weekend.  Typically 9th and 10th grade students coach our elementary and junior leagues (grades 3-6), and our 11th and 12th grade students coach junior and middle school leagues (grades 5-8).  It is an unpaid position, but you are expected to commit to attending all practices and games.

Please note that you will be required to attend training.  Failure to attend will exclude you being selected as a coach.

Expectations:

• Know the rules of basketball.
• Be a role model for the players.
• Come prepared for all practices and games.  This means showing up a few minutes early.
• Work with the division directors and adult coaches to make it a positive learning experience.
• HAVE FUN!
